Obituary For Sandralee Frieda McCall

Sandralee Frieda McCall, age 83 of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, died on September 27, 2023, at Hearthside Assisted Living in Sault Ste. Marie. She was born on July 17, 1940, in Muskegon, Michigan, to Allen “Bud” McCall and Marion “Ardis” (Frost) Lyon.

Sandy grew up in Muskegon until the tenth grade when she moved to Sault Ste. Marie to help her aunt raise her cousins. She began working at War Memorial Hospital as a nurse’s aide before moving to California and continuing to work as a nurse’s aide. After seven years, she returned to the Sault Ste. Marie and returned to War Memorial Hospital. She retired after working for sixteen years.

Sandy was a lifetime member of the RLDS Church. She also was a member of the Diabetic Support Group in Sault Ste. Marie. She volunteered at the Salvation Army Soup Kitchen for eight years and hosted a bible study at her house on Wednesdays.

Sandy was very kind and considerate. She always had a smile and was willing to give anything to anyone. She was known as the neighborhood grandma and loved her children and grandchildren. She loved baking and cooking delicious foods. She also enjoyed crocheting and crafts.

Sandy is survived by her daughter, Shannon (William) Bonnee of Cedarville, Michigan; grandchildren, Mandy McGill (Michael) DeWilde of Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Erin (Josh Burd) McGill of Grand Rapids; great-grandchildren, Sonja and Charlotte DeWilde of Grand Rapids; sisters, MaryJane (Meredith) Wheltmer of Minnesota, Darlene Rouse of Tennessee, Sharon Garris and Karon McCall both of California.

Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, Allen and Marion; and siblings, John Allen McCall, Nancy Stevens, and Carole Reinman.

Memorial Contributions can be made out to the Ball Hospice of the EUP, 308 W. 12th Ave, Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan 49783, or the Hearthside Assisted Living, 1501 W. 6th Ave, Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan 49783.

Interment will take place in the Spring of 2024.

Final Resting Place will be held at the Oaklawn Chapel Gardens in Bruce Township, Michigan.Family Life Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements. Condolences may be left to the family at www.csmulder.com.
