Obituary For Sally Elaine (MacDonald) Wagner

Sally Elaine (MacDonald) Wagner, age 90, of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, was called home on March 20, 2024, at the Pennington Home in Pickford, Michigan. She was born on July 8, 1933, in Sault Ste. Marie to Clayton and Zada (Woodhall) MacDonald.

Sally was born and raised in Sault Ste. Marie and graduated from Sault High School with the Class of 1951. Prior to being married, Sally worked for Michigan Bell Telephone as an operator. She met Richard C. Wagner while he was enlisted in the United States Air Force and stationed in Sault Ste. Marie at the Radar Base. They married on July 6, 1951, at the United Methodist Church in Sault Ste. Marie. When Richard retired from active service they moved to his hometown in Pennsylvania and started their family. They decided to move back to Sault Ste. Marie shortly after and settled there.

Sally was actively engaged at the First Free Methodist Church in Sault Ste. Marie, contributing her talents by singing, playing the organ for weddings, services, and other occasions. Additionally, she dedicated herself to teaching Sunday school, serving on the church board, and volunteering whenever possible.

Sally enjoyed playing the organ in her free time, however, her greatest pride and joy was being a mother and caring for her family. Her faith, family and friends were very important to her. Sally leaves behind a legacy filled with faith, love, laughter, and memories that will be dearly cherished. She will be missed beyond measure.

Sally is survived by her daughter, Cathy (Bill) Leclerc; son, Scott Wagner; grandchildren, Lucius (Kristine) Leclerc, Jaimee Gigowski, Deanna (Eric) Sherlund, Celesta Leclerc, Sam Wagner and Russell Wagner; and great-grandchildren, Sylvia Leclerc and Cali Davis; sister, Cleta (Don) Boyer as well as many beloved nephews, nieces, cousins and good friends.

Sally was preceded in death by her loving husband, Richard; parents, Clayton and Zada; sisters, Ardith (Hugh) Wallace, and Florence (Don) Tidwell; brother-in-law, Phil Kirkpatrick; father-in-law and mother-in-law, William and Eva (Powell) Wagner; Great niece, Melanie; and great-nephews, Steven, Weston, and Indie.

A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at the First Free Methodist Church, 505 W. 4th Ave. Sault Ste. Marie, MI 49783, from 11AM until 1PM. The Funeral Service will follow immediately at 1PM followed by a luncheon at the church.

Final resting place will be at Pine Grove Cemetery in Soo, Township in the Spring of 2024.
