Obituary For Rosalie Robinson

It is with profound sorrow and heartfelt love that we announce the passing of Rosalie Robinson on May 21, 2025, at the age of 85. She was a wonderful wife and loving mother, grandmother and sister, and a great friend to many.

Rosalie was born on March 28, 1940, in St. Ignace. She started working as a teen selling fish at her dad’s fish market. She prided herself on being a fisherman’s daughter! Rosie waitressed for many years, sold tickets for Starline, and even after retiring as a District Court Clerk after 10 years, she continued to work part time in souvenir shops in Mackinaw City and St. Ignace.

She was a member of the St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and taught Catechism in the Faith Formation program. She enjoyed being Queen Mum of the Red Hat Society, volunteering at the Hope Food Pantry, loved to cook, clean, camp, shop, spoiling her pup Harlee and baking her famous chocolate chip cookies for the grandkids; most important were Faith and Family. She had a passion for life, a great sense of humor and a compassionate and loving nature. Her smile lit up the room!

Rosalie is survived by her loving husband of 30 years, William Robinson; children, Pam (Dennis) Thornley of Spring Lake, MI; Lana Stiebe of Saline, MI, Renee (Keith) Cook of Traverse City, MI, Jeff (Lynne) Stiebe of Marquette, MI; Julie (Terry) Schram of Burton, MI, Tonia Robinson Lester of Davison, MI; Tracy Robinson of Davison and Keith (Deanna) Duffton of Cheboygan, MI; 19 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; brother, Fred (Rilla) Halberg, and sister, Linda Schlehuber whom she had a special relationship with.

Rosalie was preceded in death by husband, Art Stiebe; husband, Pat Duffton; and great-grandson, Sam Paquin.

Her legacy of love, warmth and laughter will continue to inspire and be cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing her. In this time of sorrow, we find solace in the countless beautiful memories she has left behind. Rosalie’s spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends forever.

A Memorial Gathering will be held on Friday, June 6, 2025, at St. Ignatius Loyola Church, 120 Church Street, St. Ignace, from 11:30 AM -1:00 PM. The Memorial Mass will follow at 1:00 PM with a luncheon immediately afterward.

Memorial contributions may be made in Rosalie’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 (www.stjude.org/give), or Dementia Society of America, send check to 188 North Main Street, Doylestown, PA 18901.
