Obituary For Robin Lynn Schilling

Robin Lynn Schilling, age 78, of Curtis, Michigan, died at her home on August 30, 2025. She was born on September 11, 1946, in Ishpeming, Michigan, to Herbert and Olive (Bazinette) Schilling.

Robin and her family moved frequently throughout Michigan during her childhood, attending multiple schools along the way. As a young adult, she continued her travels, living in Nevada, Arizona, California, Oregon, and Colorado, among other states like Missouri and Wisconsin, embracing what some often described as a gypsy lifestyle. She began her working years at a plastic factory, and in the mid-1960s she started her family, raising three children. Throughout the 1980s, Robin held a variety of service focused jobs, including working as a lunch lady in schools, as a custodian in hospitals and hotels, and at an antique shop. Determined to further her education, she proudly earned her GED in the late 90's. She later retired in 2010 after working at the casino gift shop.

Robin was an active member of the ACLU, Friends of Seney National Wildlife Refuge, Rights for All, and Animal Protection.

Robin enjoyed reading, especially about history. She had a love of cooking and baking bread, and her family could always count on a homemade supper. Robin also loved the outdoors; camping, hiking, and kayaking brought her joy and peace. She was truly one with nature.

Robin is survived by her daughter, Shannen (Charlie) Gill of Eben, Michigan; son, Mathieu (Miriam) Bridwell of Curtis; and daughter, Jamie (Cesar) Palomo of Wisconsin; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; care giver, Larry Ward; sister, Sharon Campbell of Marquette, Michigan; brother-in-law, Bob Messier of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and great friend, Anita Bouge of Blaney Park, Michigan.

Robin was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert (Art) and Olive Schilling; sisters, Gerry Messier and Charlotte Koski; and brother-in-law, Don Campbell.

Per Robin's wishes, no public services will be held.

Memorial Contributions can be made in Robin’s honor to WCMU, WCMU Public Media 1999 E. Campus Drive Mt. Pleasant, MI 48859.
