Roberta “Bobbie” Mae (Huntoon) Colegrove, age 74, of Moran, Michigan, died after following an illness with Leukemia on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at MyMichigan Medical Center in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, surrounded by her family. She was born in Sault Ste. Marie on August 6, 1948, the eldest child to Charles Raymond and Iscah Mae (Serels) Huntoon.

Bobbie grew up in Brimley, Michigan, and graduated from Brimley High School in 1966. In 1978, Bobbie married Oliver “Gene” Eugene Benner on June 4, 1978, in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. She took on the role of mother of Gene’s six children along with her son, Barry. Bobbie worked as the meat cutter/butcher at the small-town, Chatham Co-op, for many years before she retired. She knew her job well and was loved by the customers in the community. Gene and Bobbie were married for 20 years when Gene passed away. Bobbie later married Jim Colegrove of Moran, Michigan. Together they enjoyed camping, traveling & going out dancing.

Bobbie enjoyed doing jig-saw puzzles, watching the deer in her yard & had a love for hummingbirds. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in St. Ignace.

Bobbie is survived by her children, Diane (Terry) King, Beverly Shannon, Bob Benner, Barbara (Todd) Maki, Connie (John) Payment, and Barry Benner; twelve grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; one great niece; one great nephew; sister, Ruth Ashburner; and niece, Wendy Manning.

Bobbie was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Mae Huntoon; first husband Gene; second husband, Jim; son, Ron Benner; son-in-law, Bill Shannon; granddaughter-in-law, Bethany King; and brother-in-law, Ron Ashburner.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, from 12:00 Noon till 2:00 PM at the United Methodist Church in St. Ignace, Michigan. The Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 PM.

Burial will be at Oaklawn Chapel Gardens in Bruce Township, Michigan.
