Phyllis Della Libby, age 77, of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, died on June 19, 2025, at MyMichigan Medical Center in Sault Ste. Marie. She was born on November 22, 1947, in Keldon, Michigan, to Eugene and Catherine (Kowalczyk) Desormeaux.

Phyllis grew up in Keldon and graduated from Pickford High School. She married Lloyd Libby on June 11, 1966, and together they proudly raised three children.

Phyllis worked for JAS Veneer Plant for over thirty years. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and was part of the Soo Cribbage League.

Phyllis loved nothing more than spending time with her family and friends. You could almost always find her in her recliner, coffee in hand, hosting a friend, and making them cry from laughing so hard at her stories. Phyllis will be remembered by family and friends for her contagious laugh, for the treats she would bake when we’d come over to visit, and for her unconditional love.

Phyllis is survived by her sons, Keith (Kristyn) Libby of Sault Ste. Marie and Kirk (Toni) Libby of Louisiana; son-in-law, Paul Stabile; grandchildren, Joel (Laurin) Libby, Josh (Marsela) Libby, Alyssa (Cody) Hengesbach, Joey Stabile, Libby Stabile and Jordan Pavlat; great-grandchildren, Brooks and Blake Hengesbach; siblings, Clifford (Judy) Desormeaux; Roger (Debbie) Desormeaux and Deloris Desormeaux (Stark).

Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Libby; daughter, Lori Stabile; grandson, Brandon Kinney; longtime partner, Nathan Spaulding; parents, Eugene and Catherine; siblings, Edward Desormeaux, Richard Desormeaux, Lois (Desormeaux) Skalmowski, Albertine (Desormeaux) Savoie, Darlene (Desormeaux) Sasseville, Joann (Desormeaux) Flurry, Annebele (Desormeaux) Bentley, and Rose Marie (Desormeaux) Roberts.

A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at Family Life Funeral Homes, 4951 S. M-129, Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan 49783. The Memorial Gathering will be from
10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, with Memorial Mass at 11:00 AM. A luncheon to follow at the American Legion Post 3, 3 Legion Dr. Sault Ste. Marie, MI 49783.

Phyllis’s final resting place will be Oaklawn Chapel Gardens in Bruce Township.
