The family of Phillip “Phil” Bruce Lounds is deeply saddened to announce his passing on February 25, 2026. Phil was born on June 19, 1941, in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, to Samuel Arthur and Theresa Leora (Dow) Lounds.

Raised in his hometown, Phil developed a strong work ethic early in life. At just fifteen years old, he began working for Soo Builders, starting what would become a lifelong career in construction. Over the years, he worked on numerous job sites throughout Michigan, from Sault Ste. Marie to Ann Arbor, earning the respect of coworkers and friends alike for his dedication and skill.

Phil embraced life outside of work with equal passion. Those who knew him will always remember his love of fishing, hunting, gardening, and making his own wine. He also enjoyed a competitive game of pool and never shied away from a good challenge. His steady presence, hardworking nature, and appreciation for the simple joys in life will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Phil is survived by his loving wife, Chaseley (Fraser) Lounds; daughter, Kimberly (Jocque) Benoit of Sault Ste Marie; son, Todd (Sarah) Lounds of Ogden, Utah; step-son, Douglas (Andrea) Warren of Gaylord, Michigan; grandchildren, Mallory Piche, Marleena Schroeder, T.J. Benoit, Jenna (Lounds) Kallio, Nicholas Lounds, Phillip Lounds, Carter Lounds, Tasha Lounds, Kirstin (Warren) La Rocca, Rowan Warren, Ashlyn Warren, and Darrin Warren; great-granddaughter, Lake Piche Ball; and brothers, Alvin (Hannah) Lounds and Gordon Lounds.

Phil was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Theresa; brothers, Orville Lounds, Lyle Lounds, James Lounds, and David Lounds; and sister, Carol (Lounds) Christensen.

Per Phil’s wishes no services are being held.
