Obituary For Nancy Lee Lee
Nancy Lee Lee, age 99, of Trout Lake, Michigan, died peacefully at her home on July 14, 2025. She was born on September 9, 1925, in Great Falls, Montana, to William and Rachel Felix.
Nancy's compassion and dedication to caregiving led her to a long and accomplished nursing career. It began at Grace Hospital in Detroit where she earned her license as a Registered Nurse. Her career encompassed Eloise Hospital and the VA Hospital, where she assisted surgeons for several years. Afterwards, he joined the staff at Oakwood Hospital in Dearborn, Michigan, and spent more than two decades in the emergency room. Detroit is also where she met and married her husband, a Detroit firefighter, Robert Edward Lee. Following her husband’s passing in 1969, she retired from Oakwood in 1978 – but her heart never left caregiving. Nancy then moved to Trout Lake, Michigan, in 1978, and soon returned to work at the Straits Area Hospital in St. Ignace, Michigan, and she was a member of the Trout Lake Emergency Medical Service.
Beyond her work, Nancy had many talents and passions. An expert seamstress, she lovingly sewed clothing for her daughters and then her grandchildren, crocheted or knitted sweaters, and crafted beautiful quilts. She especially enjoyed flower gardening, solving crossword puzzles, and working on intricate stained-glass projects. Her creativity and generosity touched everyone around her.
Nancy is survived by all of her children, Mark Lee of West Palm Beach, Florida, Janice (Marc) Standish of Plymouth, Michigan, Yvonne (James) Taulbee of Goetzville, Michigan, Eric Lee of Trout Lake, Michigan, and Suzette Lee of Brimley, Michigan; grandchildren, Ben (Liz) Standish, Aaron (Kelly) Taulbee, Summer (Brandon) Spedowski, Lucille Lee Lee (Pete Smalley), and Truman (Regina) Lee; great-grandchildren, Hannah Standish, Grace Standish, Randy Taulbee, Madi Taulbee, Branson Spedowski, Brantley Spedowski, Carter Lee, Archer Lee, and River Lee.
Nancy will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her kindness, strength, and warmth will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
A Memorial will be held at the Trout Lake Community Center with the date and time to be announced at a later date.
