Obituary For Michael Hugh Quinn

Michael Hugh Quinn, age 70, of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, died on November 9, 2025, at MyMichigan Medical Center - Sault. He was born on October 7, 1955, in Sault Ste. Marie, to William Raphael and Alma Irene (MacLean) Quinn.

Mike lived on the south side of Sault Ste. Marie most of his life, growing up on Minneapolis Street. He enjoyed hanging out in the neighborhood with all the kids. The neighborhood had kids in practically every house, and they were a close bunch. He graduated from Sault Area High School with the class of 1974. Mike worked a lot of odd jobs in his younger years such as grass cutting, painting, haying, and working at a buffalo farm.

After graduation, Mike enlisted in the United States Coast Guard and served as a fireman from 1975 to 1979 when he was honorably discharged. He spent time in Avon by the Sea, New Jersey at Shark River Coast Guard station. He spent six months at Sandy Hook Lighthouse in the New York Harbor. He also spent time on the Coast Guard Cutter Mackinaw. Mike was also stationed in Sheboygan, Wisconsin for a short time.

In his later years, he worked for a car painting business. He also worked at Hiawatha Behavioral Health as a maintenance person and at Chippewa County Recycling Center all while helping his mother with any spare chance he got.

Mike was a kind soul who loved his family and friends. He looked forward to seeing his boys and spending time with them. He loved to watch their favorite movie, “The Wizard of Oz”. He loved to spend time talking on the phone. He enjoyed working on cars, like his father. He especially loved to watch the Red Wings hockey games and listen to music. He was a big fan of all music, but especially loved ELO, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, Men at Work, John Denver and pretty much anything from the 70’s. He loved to sing and play his guitar along with the music.

He was always easy-going and happy. He loved to laugh and was a funny guy. He was the best dad, brother, and son you could ask for, and he will be missed.

Mike is survived by his significant other, Peggy Conley; sons, William Lawrence (Melanie) Quinn of Michigan, and Joseph Raphael Quinn of Colorado; grandsons, Julian, Jonathon, and Silas; sister, Lori (Lonny) Desormeau; brother-in-law, Michael Johnston; nephews, Eddie (Cody) Desormeau, Dustin (Jocelyn) Desormeau, Len (Cali) Desormeau, Terry (Nicole) Wilkins, and Michael (Angela) Johnston Jr.; nieces, Sherri (Marc) Bloomfield and Christina Wilkins; mother of his children, Susie (Mayer) Lewis; his best bud, Chuck Brohl; and several great nieces, great nephews, and a pile of cousins.
