Obituary For Michael Allen George
Michael Allen George, age 73, of Rudyard, Michigan, passed away on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, following a long battle with lung disease. He faced his illness with a stubborn will to live and continued to find joy in life for many years. He was born on April 18, 1953, in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
He grew up in East Lansing, Michigan, and graduated from East Lansing High School in 1971. Win or lose, he remained a tried-and-true Michigan State University fan.
Mike spent much of his adult life driving trucks for Ken Graham Trucking out of Brimley, Michigan. He spoke fondly of his years on the road, doing complex math in his head, memorizing routes, and enjoying beautiful scenery. Because of his love of reading, collecting, and gifting books, he often stopped at used bookstores along his way. Throughout his life, he also appreciated the stories told through old and foreign films.
It was always Mike’s dream to be a self-sufficient farmer. Although his health never allowed him to pursue that dream fully, he found great joy in gardening at his home. Many enjoyed admiring his beautiful flowers, and he was known for sharing his unbeatable fresh tomatoes.
During his years of better health, Mike blessed his community by singing in the local choir. He also loved conversing with old friends and strangers alike. Mike especially cherished his time on weekly Zoom calls with his sisters and family.
More than anything, Mike was a dedicated and caring dad. He was always there for his children whenever they called, day or night. His love and devotion to them was unfailing, and that is how he will be remembered most.
Mike is survived by his children, Brenna George, Brian George, and Cara (Kyle) Rice; grandchildren, Kaelyn, Nora, and Brady; sisters, Barbara George, Carolyn George, and Debbie George.
Mike was preceded in death by his son, Matthew George; and parents, Harry and Maxine George.
A Private family service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, and to honor Mike’s love of books, memorial donations may be made to Mollie R. Kahl Community Library, 11185 W. 2nd Street, Rudyard, MI 49780, in memory of Mike.
