Maureen Gale Smith, 64, of Sault Ste. Marie, MI, passed away Friday, June 23, 2023, at MyMichigan Medical Center in Sault Ste. Marie. She was born February 27, 1959 in Grand Rapids, MI, to Maurice and Esther (Syrek) Smith.

Maureen loved to travel and have adventures with Joe. Together they saw most of the continental United States. She also enjoyed decorating cards for all occasions and took great pride in the ability to give the perfect card for any occasion. Maureen was also talented with a paint brush and enjoyed sewing, gardening, and playing cards with her sisters, but most of all she loved to spend time with family and loved ones.

Maureen is survived by husband, the love of her life and best friend, Joe Hunt; sons, Eric Baldwin, Wayne Baldwin, and stepson Tyson Hunt; daughter, Amanda Funkhouser (Baldwin); stepdaughters, Tara Kielty and Chevi Hunt; sisters, Denise Clark, Carol Michael, Jennifer (Gerry) Manion, and Janine (Duane); eight grandchildren; and one great grandchild.

Maureen was predeceased by her parents.

Visitation will be Friday, June 30, 2023 at Clark Hovie Galer Funeral Home, 113 Maple St. Sault Ste. Marie, MI 49783, from 1:00pm until the time of the Funeral Service at 3:00pm, also at the funeral home with Father Dominic Yamoah officiating.

Per Maureen's wishes cremation will take place after the funeral service.
