Mary Louise (Launderville) Berlinger passed in peace on June 14, 2023, at age 92.

Born to Raymond and Alverna “Dolly” (DeRocher) Launderville on March 31, 1931, in Munising, MI, Mary forged her own path in life. She found herself in Sault Ste. Marie, MI, where she spent the rest of her life (when she wasn’t traveling cross-country by bus or train with her sisters). Mary married the love of her life, Dominic Berlinger, on May 26, 1951, and the two of them raised a beautiful family among the Johnston Street “village.”

If you had the pleasure of knowing Mary, it might have been from rolling meatballs at the CC Hall, making pasties at the Legion, volunteering at the VFW fish fry, or weekly bingo nights at the casino—where if you sat in her lucky seat, she’d be sure to let you know.

Mary also loved her grandkids (and would tell you all about them); true crime (she always had a murder mystery book on hand); and cooking (even if some ideas weren’t well-received, like when she tried to feed her husband lime jello with cottage cheese).

Mary relished her role as sister to Loretta Baka; mother to Mark (Rhonda) Berlinger, Maria Pourshahidi, Nancy Moher, and Louie (Laura) Berlinger; grandma to Tony Crisp, Sara (Randy) Costellow, Michael (Jen) Crisp, Marisa Berlinger, Dominic Berlinger, Joe Berlinger, Evelyn Berlinger, and Mary Berlinger; and great-grandma to Brekkyn Crisp, Noah Crisp, Brady Costellow, and Aspyn Crisp.

Mary was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Dominic; her siblings, Jack, Ruth, Helen, and Joyce; and her son-in-law, Farzin.
