Mark Thomas Willis, age 68, of Goetzville, Michigan, died at his home on June 14, 2023. He was born in Marysville, Michigan on September 16, 1954, to Eugene T. & Stella M. (Schmitigal) Willis.

Mark was raised in Marysville and graduated from Marysville High School. Growing up, he enjoyed coming to the Upper Peninsula to his grandparents’ farm to snowmobile, hunt, and fish. He was a graduate of Spartan School of Aeronautics in Oklahoma and took a job with Williams International in Walled Lake, Michigan. When his work took him to California, his parents would spend their winters there with him, and he and his father spent many years golfing together. Later when parents moved to Goetzville, Mark moved there as well to care for them. He would spend much of his free time walleye fishing with his father and many friends on the St. Mary’s River. At that time, he returned to school and got a degree in nursing from Lake Superior State University. He worked for the Sault Tribe where he specialized in Elder Care.

Mark enjoyed boating, fishing, four wheeling in the woods, and was a longtime golf enthusiast. Mark loved flying and had his private pilot’s license before he could even drive.

Mark is survived by his daughter, Bobbi Jean Cartwright; his close neighbor and uncle, Harold (Barbara) Schmitigal; close friend, Debbie Flores; and many more aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents, whom he will be laid to rest with in the North Raber Cemetery.
