Marilyn Joyce (Robinette) Filo, age 85, of Drummond Island, Michigan, died on Sunday, April 20, 2025, at her home. She was born on October 27, 1939, in Dayton, Ohio, to Roy Lee and Mattie Beatrice (Williams) Robinette.

Marilyn grew up in Troutwood, Ohio, where she graduated from the local high school — the very place she met the love of her life, Ronald Filo. The two were high school sweethearts and went on to build a beautiful life together. Marilyn supported Ron as he pursued his medical career as a kidney transplant doctor, and together they made their way through Philadelphia, Maryland, and Indiana. Along their journey, they discovered Drummond Island — a place that captured their hearts and became their forever home.

Known for her vibrant personality, Marilyn was a proud member of the Red Hat Society. She had a keen eye for beauty, which shone through in her love of gardening, interior design, and decorating. Whether she was enjoying a peaceful ride in the golf cart, tuning into Fox News, sipping her morning coffee in her favorite chair looking out on Lake Huron, or simply spending time with her family, she found joy in the everyday. Above all Marilyn’s heart belonged to her family.

Marilyn is survived by her children, Doug Filo, of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, Robin McCart of Wichita, Kansas, and Ron Filo of Pembroke Pines, Florida; five granddaughters, Lauren Pantano, Wendy Vargas, Becky Filo, Emily Filo, and Olivia Acevedo; five great-grandchildren, Maddison Vargas, Sophia Vargas, Max Pantano, Milo Pantano, and Evelyn Vargas.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald; parents, Roy and Mattie; sister, Norma Perry; and brother-in-law, Douglas Filo.

Visitation will be held on June 21, 2025, from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM, at the Drummond Island Lutheran Church, 29515 E Channel Rd, Drummond, MI 49726. The Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 AM.

Marilyn’s final resting place will be at the Drummond Island Cemetery.
