Obituary For Marie Pearl Parish

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marie Pearl Parish, of Kincheloe, Michigan, who went home on November 30, 2025, at the age of 95 years and 10 months. She was born on January 20, 1930, in Flint, Michigan, to Robert and Lila (McRae) Adams.

Marie grew up in Flint and, at a young age, was taken from her family to attend school, where she remained until the age of eighteen. Shortly after finishing school, Marie met the love of her life, Robert Wayne Parish, in Flint, Michigan. They married in 1952 and soon moved to Bay Mills, Michigan, where they began their family and raised seven beautiful children.

Because of Robert’s work in fishing, the family moved frequently, making homes in Arizona and Florida before moving back to Michigan. Marie worked in a nursing home, then as a cook at Slon’s Bar, and later in a laundromat before retiring from a casino in the late 1960s. Not long after retiring, she experienced a joyful reunion with her three adopted sisters.

Throughout her life, Marie was defined by her deep devotion to her children and grandchildren. She was a Bay Mills member through marriage and held great pride in her family and their heritage.

Marie loved baking, dancing, spending time with friends, and being with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed shopping for clothes, imitation flowers, and sweets.

Marie is survived by her daughters, Iva Bowen, Darlene (Mike) Suggitt, and Effie Parish; twenty-five grandchildren; forty-seven great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Maria Thrasher of Arizona and Patricia Farrington of New Hampshire; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; daughter, Rosanna Parish; sons, Robert Parish, Wayne Parish, and Danny Parish; great-grandchildren, Robert Hart, Edmond D. Hart, George Hart, and Joseph Bowen; parents, Robert and Lila; brothers, William Adams and George Adams; and sister, Marilyn J. Robinson.

Marie will be missed dearly by all who knew her.

Visitation was be held on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at the Bay Mills Cultural & Language, 12498 W Tower Rd, Brimley, MI 49715, with a luncheon to follow beginning at 1:00 PM.
