Obituary For Marie Elizabeth Hutchins

Marie Elizabeth (Cadotte) Hutchins, age 73, of St. Ignace, Michigan, died on October 21, 2026, at Evergreen Living Center in St. Ignace. She was born on February 4, 1953, on Mackinac Island, Michigan, to the late Mary S. (Andress) Cadotte and John F. LaTour.

Marie was a woman of unwavering strength and warmth.

Marie worked different jobs throughout life, but her favorite was the roughly sixteen years she spent as a security guard for Saber Security in downtown Detroit.

Marie was an avid baker delighting her loved ones with her delicious baked goods. In her early years she was an accomplished 8 ball player. She enjoyed painting ceramics, sewing, reading, and sudoku. She cherished the simple pleasures of life, whether it was a lively game of cards or dice or finding joy in her little videos during her later years.

Marie was known for her infectious laughter and humor, never shying away from speaking her mind. Her compassionate nature and willingness to lend a helping hand endeared her to many, leaving a lasting mark on all who knew her.

Her life will be quietly celebrated by her family and friends, with memories cherished and shared around her sacred fire as she makes her journey to the spirit world. Marie's legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will continue to inspire and uplift those who were fortunate enough to be a part of her life.

Marie was the devoted mother of James (Toni) Hutchins and took immense pride in her role as a grandmother to Dean (Darbi Merillat) Hutchins, Angel (Andrew Sackett) Hutchins, and Shelby Hutchins. Her joy multiplied with the arrival of her great-grandson, Devin-James A. Hutchins, who brought a twinkle to her eye and warmth to her heart. Her family extended beyond her immediate kin, as she was a loving godmother to Nicholas Massaway. The bonds of her family were a source of joy for Marie, shared with her siblings Debra, Wanda, Francis “Pat”, Kathy, and Brian.

Marie was predeceased by her beloved husband, Ben A. Hutchins, who she married on August 1, 1975. Their marriage of thirty-one years was a testament to their enduring devotion.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Evergreen Living Center for the compassionate care they provided.

Per Marie's wishes, no services will be held.

In honor of Marie's love for animals, memorial contributions can be made to Friends to the Forlorn Pitbull Rescue, PO Box 2316, Dallas, GA 30132, or directly to Family Life Funeral Homes to help with funeral expenses, 24549 S. M-129, Pickford, MI 49774.
