Margaret B. (Perthes) Baril, 80, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at the Ball Hospice House on August 13, 2023.

Margie was born on August 7, 1943 to Charles Perthes and Jean (Taylor) Perthes of Sault Ste. Marie, MI. Though small in stature, Margie will leave a large gap in the hearts of many. She is survived by her dear husband, Edward Baril, daughters, Melissa (Michael) Gillhooley and Shari Willard, as Margie frequently proclaimed, her “number one son”, Shawn (Amanda) Baril, and her beloved brother Charles (Mary Jane) Perthes. Grandchildren include Brandon (Jen) Baril, Kayla Willard, Matthew Willard, Allie (Josh) Henke, and Cass Gillhooley. Margie is preceded in death by her parents, siblings, Elizabeth Perrier, Mary Cowen, and James Perthes, and great grandson Camden Baril.

Margie lived a long, full life surrounded by her friends and family that adored her. There’s nothing she enjoyed more than baking cookies for her loved ones, sweeping her kitchen, and the occasional Mike’s Hard Lemonade while sitting in the driveway of their waterfront home.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, August 18 at the CC Hall in Sault Ste. Marie from 3-6 PM.
