Obituary For Margaret Ann Ruthruff
Margaret Ann Ruthruff, age 86, of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, died on October 31, 2025, at the
Ball Hospice House in Sault Ste. Marie. She was born on October 13, 1939, in Lansing, Michigan, to William and Rowena (King) Iversen.
Margaret grew up in Lansing, where she graduated from Sexton High School. She went on to attend Pontiac Community College, earning her degree in nursing. Margaret began her career as a pediatric nurse at Ingham Medical Hospital, where her compassion and dedication touched the lives of many young patients and their families.
It was during her time at St. Lawrence Hospital that she met the love of her life Ronald Ruthruff. After starting their family, Margaret took some time to be a stay-at-home mom, dedicating herself to raising their children. She later returned to work at the hospital, continuing her passion for caring for others. Together, they raised two sons and one daughter.
Margaret was a proud member of the Red Hat Society, where she enjoyed friendship and fun with her fellow members. She loved camping, especially at Six Lakes, playing Euchre, sewing, reading, and cheering on the Detroit Tigers with her family. She was also an avid fan of Tom Selleck movies.
Above all, Margaret cherished her grandchildren. She was deeply involved in their lives, supporting them at their sporting events, traditional gatherings, and powwows. Her love, warmth, and spirit will be forever remembered by all who knew her.
Margaret is survived by her sons, Michael (Cathleen) Ruthruff of Lansing, Michigan, and Jon (Victoria) Ruthruff of Sault Ste. Marie; grandchildren, Courtney and William; great-grandchild, Troy; sister, Karla (Allen) Lowrie of Bath, Michigan; and many nieces and nephews.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald; daughter, Elizabeth Ann Ruthruff; parents, William and Rowena; and brother, William Iversen.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
