Obituary For Lola Kay Jarman

Lola Kay (Immonen) Jarman, age 78, of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, died on December 12, 2025, at her home. She was born on December 9, 1947, in Duluth, Minnesota, to Ozzie and Kay (Malmquist) Immonen.

Lola grew up in Ontonagon, Michigan, and was a proud graduate of Ontonagon High School. She continued her education by earning an associate’s degree from Gogebic Community College, followed by a bachelor’s degree from Lake Superior State University. Lola began her professional career as a Substance Abuse Counselor and later served the State of Michigan as a paralegal While attending Lake Superior State University, Lola met the love of her life, Dale. They were married in 1987 and made their home together in Sault Ste. Marie. After the tragic death of her son, Lola faced profound struggles, yet her strength and compassion continued to shine through her care for others.

Lola was an active member of the Eastern Star, Queen Chapter #082, a dedicated Hospital Auxiliary member, a volunteer at St. Joseph Church, and a participant in the local Quilters Guild. She was best known for her exceptional seamstress skills, making dolls and her passion for quilting. Lola generously donated countless blankets and pillows to the Ball Hospice House and to veterans through the VA, giving comfort to many through her craft.

Lola cherished spending time quilting with friends over coffee, enjoyed watching television, especially her favorite shows from the 1990s, and had a special fondness for spending quality time with her great-grandchildren. Lola loved life’s simple pleasures and was well known for her sweet tooth. Her kindness, creativity, and giving spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Lola is survived by her children, Lynn (Jeff) Pulfrey of Sault Ste. Marie, Laurie (Tom) Whitburn of Green Bay, Wisconsin, Jon (Tammy) Janz of Lake Muskego, Wisconsin; stepson, Christopher (Holly) Jarman of Lake Neba Gamon, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Chelsey (Jonathan) Hernandez, Amanda Payment, Tyler Whitburn, Derek Whitburn, Zackrey Pulfrey, Riley Janz and Cole Janz, and several bonus grandchildren from the Jarman side; and great-grandchildren, Mason Hernandez, Maddox Hernandez, and Mylee Jo Ferrell.

Lola was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Jarman; son, Derek Nykanen, parents, Ozzie and Kay Immonen; and sister, Sue Lefler.

A Visitation will be held on December 18, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Family Life Funeral Homes, 4951 S. M-129, Sault Ste. Marie, MI 49783. The Funeral Service will follow immediately at 11:00 AM.

Lola’s final resting place will be at Oaklawn Chapel Gardens, in Bruce Township, Michigan.
