Lawrence Edward Carey, age 89, of Sault Ste, Marie, MI passed away on December 16, 2022, at the Long Term Care unit of My Michigan Medical Center–Sault.

Lawrence was born on September 30, 1933, in Detroit, Michigan to the late Leo Carey and Anne (Peterson) Lawlor. He graduated from St. Alphonsus High School in Dearborn, MI, with the class of 1952. Lawrence served his country in the United States Army. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and rebuilding and showing wooden boats. He also enjoyed golfing and woodworking.

Lawrence is survived by his wife: Rose Marie Carey, whom he married on October 5, 1957, in Dearborn, MI; children: Roseanne Carey of Antioch, CA, Susan (Chris) Leonard of Fenton, MI, and Dan Carey of Iron Mountain, MI; 7 grandchildren: Nate, Myles, Gabby, Christopher, Jessica, Justin, and Kaylyn; and 4 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings: Mike Carey, Kathleen Moore, and Norma Jean Gryglewicz ; and one special niece Maureen “Moey” Carey.

Cremation has already taken place and no public services are planned at this time.
