Obituary For June Elaine Douglas Finch
June Elaine Douglas Finch, age 78, of Dade City, FL (Formerly of Kinross, MI), passed away July 16, 2022, in Tampa, FL.
June was born on February 15, 1944, in Atlanta, MI, the daughter of the late Ruben and Mabel (Mogg) Brooks. June was the youngest of eight children. Her parents moved many times during her childhood as her father was a carpenter by trade. After her father died in 1960, her mother opened a store in St. Ignace (Evergreen Shores), MI and that is where June graduated in 1962 before heading to Marquette, MI to attend the Northern Michigan College LPN Program and graduating in 1964. June met Doug in Sault Ste. Marie in 1964 and they married the next year and moved to Dewitt, MI and then Lansing, MI for their jobs. In 1975, they decided to move back towards “home” and relocated to Kinross, MI in the UP of Michigan where they stayed until Doug’s death in 1990. In 2001 she married Glen Finch and started spending her winters in Georgia and Florida and summers in Kinross until 2006 when he passed away. At that time, June decided to make Florida her permanent home. In 2014, June married Jack Miller and he passed shortly thereafter but she was able to bring him to Kinross before they married to see the UP of Michigan.
June was a hard worker. She bought and operated the B & D Market in Kinross with her husband Doug in 1984 and continued as an owner after Doug’s death in 1990. Sold the store in 1995. She was involved with the Kinross Boosters, Kinross Amvets Auxiliary and Kinross Heritage Society and elected as Kinross Township Treasurer. Later, she worked as an in-home Health Aide and loved the little ones she worked with. June then tried her hand at Real Estate and obtained her Real Estate License and worked through ReMax. While in Florida, she volunteered with the Hospital Auxiliary, The Red Hat Society and was very active in Church activities. She also worked part time at one of the antique shops in downtown Dade City. She dearly loved all of those activities.
June is survived by a daughter: Debbie (Bill) Hopper of Kinross, MI; a son: Marc (Sonomi) Douglas of Burlington, WI; two granddaughters: Becky (Taylor) Howson of Sault Ste.
