Obituaries

It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Joshua David Gerdes on October 8, 2025, at his home in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. Born on August 29, 1985, in West Palm Beach, Florida, to Kelvin Gerdes and Teresa “Lynn” Parker, Joshua brought joy and creativity into the lives of everyone around him.

Joshua had a heart of gold and was a talented artist, known for his exceptional tattoo work. He had a passion for fishing, often finding peace and happiness on the water. Above all, he cherished his children, Story, Ivee, and Nate, who were the light of his life.

Joshua leaves behind his loving mother, Teresa “Lynn” Parker; brothers, Ryan (Michelle) Gerdes and Jeffrey Beard; father, Kelvin (Marla) M. Gerdes; his loving friends, Michael O. Perkins and Robert Hoffmann; and many special loved ones, including the mother of Ivee and Nate, Patrice Dillard. Joshua will be deeply missed by his Grannie Pat, Grandma Kat, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Patrick M. Beard, bonus dad, Curtis D. Parker; maternal great-grandparents, Perry and Elsie Johnson; paternal great-grandparents, James Harley and Helen Beard; grandfather, Gary M. Beard; bonus grandmother, Beverley Parker; great uncle, James Johnson (Phyllis); and uncles, Dennis Joe Beard and Richard Lee Beard; all of whom welcomed him home with open arms.

Cremation has been completed. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in Sault Ste. Marie. Burial will take place at Oaklawn Chapel Gardens in Bruce Township, Michigan, at a later date.

Joshua's spirit, creativity, and love will remain in the hearts of all who knew him. As we navigate through this time of loss, we invite everyone to share their memories and celebrate the beautiful life he lived.
