Joan Monica (Phillips) Clark, age 78, of Kincheloe, Michigan, died on August 8, 2025, at McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey, Michigan. She was born on December 16, 1946, in Stevens Point, Wisconsin where she graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School.

While attending a union meeting for work, she met her future husband, Gary Clark. They traveled and lived in various places across the east coast before settling in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. Joan managed Clark’s Market for 15 years serving her local neighborhood.

She volunteered and coordinated youth activities and community events as a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 3676. Joan loved gardening, reading novels, and making her delicious homemade chicken noodle soup.

Joan loved spending time with her grandchildren. She had a big heart and was a caregiver to many, always ready to help those in need.

Joan is survived by her daughters, Monica Clark (Tanya Gasperetti) of Beavercreek, Ohio, and Natalie (Frank) Olsson of Kincheloe and son, Theodore Clark of Kincheloe; grandchildren, Brett Olsson, Chase Olsson, Atlantis Clark, Jaxon Clark and Violet Clark; brother, Mike Phillips; sisters, Carol (Bill) Buckley and Diana Phillips; sisters-in-law, Debbie Clark and Lynn (Michael) Ailiff; brother-in-law, Rodney Clark and several nieces and nephews.

Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Gary; parents, James and Viola Phillips, in-laws, Eugene and Marion Clark; sisters-in-law, Sue Phillips, Sandy Clark and Diane (Pat) McCormick; brother-in-law, Greg Clark; and niece, Rebekah Miller.

A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 15, 2025, at Lakeview Cemetery in Kinross, Michigan.
