Obituaries

Sadly, today we announce the passing of Henry "Hank" Norvell, 92. He passed away peacefully on July 8, 2023 at his home in Sault Ste. Marie, MI. He was born March 26t, 1931 in Nashville, TN to William and Sue Norvell (Harwell).
Henry was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth (Bonacci) Norvell; partner, Mirriam Dannenmueller; his parents; sisters, Janie Stanford and Gertie Mae Anasataskes; and his brothers-in-law, John Bonacci and Charles P. Claxton. He was survived by his sisters-in-law, Pat Claxton, JoAnn Bonacci; and his nieces and nephews, Debbie Nevin, Mary White, Barbara Hope, Gail Fawcett, John Anasataskes, Cheryl (Mike) Cardamoni, John (Lisa) Claxton, Kim (Mark) Samuelson, Joe (Joan) Claxton, Jim Claxton; several great nieces and nephews, and many great friends who will miss him dearly.
Henry loved to play golf and was a long-time member of the Soo Country Club. He was also an avid LSSU Laker hockey fan, participating in the Blue Liner's Club and traveling to many CCHA & Frozen Four tournaments. He liked to visit the Elks, the Moose Lodge, and the American Legion, enjoying a rum and coke, or two. He loved to build houses and cabins and lettered five times playing football and basketball in high school. Henry served in the United States Air Force, followed by a long career with Michigan Bell.
His family would like to extend a special thanks to Mirriam's son, Mark Dannenmueller, who looked after Henry during his last few years of living in Florida.
Visitation will be held at Clark Hovie Galer Funeral Home, 113 Maple St. Sault Ste. Marie, MI 49783, on July 22, 2023 from 10:00am to 11:45am. A Celebration of Life will follow immediately at the Elks Lodge 552, 1111 E. Portage Ave. Sault Ste. Marie, MI 49783, at 12:00pm.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made in Henry's name to Hospice of the EUP, 308 W. 12th Sault Ste. Marie, MI 49783. Clark Hovie Galer Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
