Georgianna Fay Savard, a longtime resident of St. Ignace, Michigan, died on June 14, 2023, at Mackinac Straits Hospital at the age of 96 years old. Georgianna was born in St. Ignace on February 11, 1927, to parents Carl and Lillian (St. Andre) Mortensen.

Georgianna graduated from LaSalle High School with the class of 1945. When Clyde Clifford Savard returned from World War II, they married and began a family. She entered the workforce as a telephone operator where she continued to work for over twenty years. She loved the job and helping to support her growing family. She had five children and loved being a mother. She later became the Mackinac County Deputy Treasurer where she worked for a decade. After retirement, Georgianna enjoyed taking winter trips to Texas with her friend Theresa. She also enjoyed her grandchildren.

Georgianna was a member of the St. Anne's Alter Society and one of the biggest fans of the St. Ignace Varsity Girls Basketball Team. She was a proud sports mom and grandma and tried to catch every game she could. She enjoyed baking and cooking. She also enjoyed weekly poker games with girlfriends and occasional visits to the casino. She was a fun spirited woman who will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Georgianna is survived by her children, David (Kathie) Savard, Richard (Shelly) Savard, Ann (John) Bjorngjeld, and Mary Jo Savard-Coveyou; grandchildren Brian, Brendan, Todd, Jennifer, Bryce, Andrew, Sam, Meghann, Amanda, Emily, Ben, and Dennis; eleven great-grandchildren and brother, Carl “Bud” Mortensen.

Georgianna was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Lillian, ex-husband, Clyde, her son Jeffery Savard, granddaughters: Stephanie and Molly, and her sisters, Martha, Peggy, and Barbara.

Services will be held at the St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church on Monday, June 19, 2023, viewing from 10:00 to 11:00 AM and then Mass of Christian Burial will be held with Fr. Ricca officiating.

Burial will be in St. Ignatius Catholic Cemetery following cremation.

Family requests donations be made out to the Evergreen Living Center Activities fund in lieu of flowers.

All family and friends are invited to David and Kathie Savard’s home at 1821 Shore Dr. following the mass.
