Obituaries

Frank Roger Dumas, age 70, of Moran, Michigan, died at Mackinac Straits Health System in St. Ignace, Michigan, on April 19, 2023. He was born in St. Ignace on February 17, 1953, to Augustus “Gus” and Elizabeth “Bessie” (Biermaker) Dumas.

Frank grew up in St. Ignace and graduated from LaSalle High School. After graduating, he started working at Starline Ferry, did odd jobs around the St. Ignace and the Mackinac Island area, and at Mackinac County Courthouse as a janitor. He later started working for the Michigan Department of Transportation as a snowplow driver mainly plowing on M-123, until his retirement in 2008.

Frank attended the Evangelical Free Church in St. Ignace, and Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in St. Ignace, the Les Cheneaux Christian Fellowship, and the Lighthouse Assembly of God Church in St. Ignace.

Frank loved the outdoors. He enjoyed mowing lawns and created Frank’s Lawn Care that served all of Moran since retirement. He also enjoyed roller skating, tinkering in his yard, having coffee with Brian, and delivering newspapers to the grocery store. He was very meticulous, enjoying solving puzzles and playing cribbage with his sister. Frank was very considerate of others and was always willing to help anyone with anything!

Frank is survived by his best friend and neighbor, Brian (Dena Barker) Peterson of Moran; sisters, Anita Dumas of St. Ignace, and Marion (Paul) Massaway of St. Ignace; and brothers, John Dumas, Tony Dumas, and Eddie Davis, all of St. Ignace.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents; son, Joshua; and siblings, Everett Dumas, Linda Dumas, and Eugene Davis.

A Memorial Service will be announced at a later date.

Final Resting Place will be at Epoufette Cemetery in Naubinway, Michigan.
