Frances “Fran” Sue (Lovegrove) Barens, age 79, of Rudyard, Michigan, died on February 27, 2024, at the Evergreen Living Center in St. Ignace, Michigan. She was born on May 28, 1944, in Ozark, Michigan, to Howard and Virginia (Blattert) Lovegrove.

Fran started her first job at Gustafson’s Resort. She later worked for Eclipse, Huyck’s, The American Drillbox, Best Western, Days Inn, and Rudyard Cooperative Company.

Fran’s hobbies included knitting, crocheting, and woodworking. She also enjoyed birdwatching and flower gardening. She dearly loved her family and friends and visiting with them.

Fran is survived by her children, Deb (Barens) Lovegrove of Dafter, Michigan, Kathy (Barens) McMillan of Fibre, Michigan, Chris (Barens) Spencer of West Virginia, Stuart MacDougall of Florida, Kurt MacDougall of Kincheloe, Michigan, Laurie (Barens) Maahs of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, Renee (Barens) Jones of Kincheloe; and sisters, Beverly Goeschel of Florida and Ginger Allred of Mississippi; as well as fourteen grandchildren, forty-three great-grandchildren, and fifteen great-great-grandchildren.

Fran was preceded in death by her first husband, Thomas MacDougall, whom she married in 1961; second husband, Jack Barens, whom she married in 1972; parents, Howard and Virginia; brothers, James Lovegrove, and David Lovegrove; and sisters, Marie Lovegrove, Marilyn Schwimmer, and Laura Lapoint.

A Graveside Service will be held on June 22, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the Grace Brethren Ozark Cemetery in Ozark.
