Evelyn Margaret (Montgomery) Baril, age 87, of Sault Ste Marie, Michigan, passed away at Ball Hospice House Friday, Sept 29th, 2023, surrounded by her family.

Evelyn or Nan as she was known to family, was born on June 3, 1936, in Sault Ste Marie, to Lawrence and Evelyn Montgomery. Her family lived in the Algonquin area during her childhood. She had a best friend Vi Alphonse and in their teen years they loved walking down to the roller rink and going to the caramel corn. She and her sister Marilyn shared daily telephone calls and giggles about funny life happenings. Mostly about what they each bought on QVC that day. They never missed a day on the phone with each other.

Evelyn graduated from Sault High in 1954 then married James Baril
In 1956. She worked at Tempo BigWheel when her kids were young and then helped her husband Jim run Baril Plumbing and Heating for many years. She was a very giving and generous person and loved being around family. Christmas Eve was her favorite holiday surrounded by her grandkids.

Evelyn is survived by two sons, Steve (Pam) Baril, and Lance (Suzan)Baril; grandchildren, Travis (Chelsea Paduan) Baril, Arin (Graham Jarvie) Baril, Jess (Madelyn)Baril, Brittany (Kyle) Stabile, Megan (Jacob)Mitchell, Dylan (Mariah) Baril; great-grandchildren, Macy and Mila Stabile, Laine and Hayes Jarvie, Quinn Baril, and Layla Baril; sister, Marilyn Soden; and many nieces and nephews.

Evelyn was predeceased by her husband, James Baril; parents, Lawrence and Evelyn Montgomery; brother, Larry Montgomery; brother-in-law, Bill Soden; and sister-in-law, Marge Baril; niece, Lisa Soden.

A celebration of life will be held at the Christopher Columbus Hall in Sault Ste. Marie from 1:00PM - 3:00PM.

Evelyn will be laid to rest at Oaklawn Chapel Gardens, next to her husband, on October 14th, 2023.
