Erik Alan Schuberg, age 42, of Rudyard, Michigan went home to be with the Lord on January 30, 2023 after battling cancer for two and a half years.

Erik was born on May 31, 1980, in Big Rapids, MI to Rick and Laura (MacDonald) Schuberg. He was a 1999 graduate of Evart High School where he enjoyed playing football. Erik ran a successful business, Schu's Farrier Service, shoeing horses in northern Michigan and on Mackinac Island for Mackinac Island Carriage Tours. He also enjoyed golfing, fishing and bow hunting. He was an excellent chef and he loved to grill a good steak. Erik was "Tough as Nails". Erik is survived by his parents: Rick and Laura Schuberg; his girlfriend: Heather Chambers: his siblings: Stacy (Kevin) Horn of Traverse City, MI, Stephen Schuberg of Sears, MI, Alyson (George) Dudley of Farwell, MI, David (Erin) Schuberg of Beal City, MI, Nathan (Judy) Schuberg of Aurora, CO, Katharine (Jerrison) Basemore of Dearborn, MI and Sarah Schuberg of Fairbanks, AK; nieces and nephews: Micah, Sophia, Avery, Emery, Alan, Abraham, Emma, Samuel, August, Grace, Faith, Amoura, and Serenity. Erik is also survived by long-time friends: Chuck, Krista, Ron, Leslye, the Mackinac Island Carriage Tours family, and many more.

The family will not be holding a public memorial service. In the spirit of Erik, they hope you will remember his hard work, sharp wit, and big heart whenever you enjoy a good fishing day on the lake, a great steak off the grill, or an entertaining monologue from Tucker Carlson.
