Obituary For Eleanor Mae Gleich

Eleanor Mae (Molinaro) Gleich, age 91, of Boyne City, Michigan, died at the McLaren Hiland Cottage House in Petoskey, Michigan, on July 29, 2023. She was born in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, on May 3, 1932, to Angelo and Helen (Wygant) Molinaro.

Eleanor grew up in Sault Ste. Marie with her three sisters & graduated from the Loretto Catholic Academy in 1950. When she was a young girl, she worked at her mother’s restaurant and nightclub “Del Mar Hotel and Restaurant” and it was while working there that she met William “Bill” Gleich Jr. He was an Army Officer stationed at Camp Lucas and often frequented the Del Mar, always finding time to chat with Eleanor. The couple married on July 31, 1952. They soon started a family and had two children, Vickie and Bill. She raised her children in the same family home she herself had been raised in. She always made time to take care of her family and enjoyed watching her children grow. During the '50s, 60's, and 70’s, Bill & Eleanor built and operated the Penthouse Restaurant and a few apartments until Bill’s passing in 1977. She had a strong catholic faith that aided in her long life.

Eleanor was very artistic and had an eye for detail. She enjoyed woodworking and interior decorating. She also loved spending time with her many friends and going to the casino to play the slot machines.

Eleanor is survived by her son, William “Bill” C. Gleich III, and daughter, Vickie Gleich, both of Boyne City; sister, Helene Rodenroth; stepchildren, Tom Harrison of Denton TX, and Marriane Harrison of Mariposa CA, and two fur babies, Buddy and Beau.

Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents, Angelo, and Helen; and sisters, Rosanna “Rosie” Korobka and Velma Joss.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Galer Funeral Homes. The memorial gathering will be held from 12:00 Noon to 2:00 PM with beverages and food available during visitation.

Final Resting Place will be at Oaklawn Chapel Gardens in Bruce Township, Michigan.
