Obituary For Edward Joseph Albon

Edward “Skip” Joseph Albon, age 95, of Sault Ste Marie, Michigan, passed on Monday, March 30, 2026, at McKinley Manor in Sault Ste. Marie. He was born in Sault Ste. Marie on October 13, 1930, to Frederick William and Nellie (Neal) Albon.

Edward was known as Skip, Skippy, Eddie, Ed. and Chip. He had a good sense of humor and used to say ‘call me anything except late for dinner’.

Skip graduated from high school and entered into service with the United States Air Force. He met his wife, Ann Louise VanArk, overseas while stationed there during the Korean War. Skip and Ann were united in marriage on October 27, 1957, in Sault Ste. Marie.

While in the Air Force, Skip learned welding and the sheet metal trade. He worked for Elliott Sheet Metal all his life. Skip was a jack of all trades. He drafted and built his house from mostly scrapped materials. He was called ‘Mr. Fix It’, as he could repair most anything. He was quite good at everything he did and liked to pass his knowledge onto others.

Skip loved hunting, fishing, boating, construction, gardening, outdoor recreation, snowmobiling, bowling, cribbage, cards, and dice games. He loved bird and squirrel watching and enjoyed wildlife. Later in life, he enjoyed the casino and won many jackpots. He was a loving husband and father and was very devoted to his family.

Skip is survived by his son, Tim Albon; daughter, Cindy Albon; daughter-in-law, Cindy (Maleport) Albon; two grandchildren, Shauna and Shane; and a cousin, Tom Neal.

Skip was preceded in death by his wife, Ann; parents, Frederick and Nellie; sister, Lois; brother, Bill; step-father, Jack Couture; and all his aunts and uncles.

Burial with military honors will be in the spring of 2026 at Oaklawn Chapel Gardens in Bruce Township.
