Donald Herman Cowling Jr., age 59, died on April 9, 2025, in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. He was born on July 15, 1965, in Iron Mountain, Michigan, to Donald Herman Cowling Sr. and Janice Lee Cowling.

Donald grew up in Iron Mountain and graduated from Iron Mountain High School. He met his wife, Melissa, in Gwinn, Michigan, while working as a Traveling Nurses Aid. He worked for fifteen years in doing so through many states until he retired due to a neck injury.

Donald loved reading about Russian History, Motorcycles and Classic Cars. He enjoyed listening to the radio and had a strong interest in football, especially the Lions, Bills and the Raiders. He had a strong love for animals, but he especially loved his Jack Russell’s: Lady Tram, Pixie, Lexi, Beauty and Cubby.

Donald is survived by his wife, Melissa Ann; son, Nicholas Alexander Cowling, Dmitri Philip (Julia) Cowling of Sault Ste. Marie; stepdaughter, Abigail Lynn Westman of Minnesota; and siblings; Joanny (David) Grenfell, Kristal (Butch) Kusmitch, Bonnie (Richard) Norman, Tammy (Peter) Wonch, Charles (Bonnie) Cowling, Ronny Cowling, and Johnny (Hester) Cowling.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Janice; and siblings, Sindy Oakes, and Danny Cowling.

Per Donald’s wished, no services will be held at this time.
