Obituary For Donald Eugene Causley
Donald "Don" Eugene Causley, age 63, of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, began his Spirit Journey on May 4, 2023, surrounded and welcomed by loved ones. He was born in Lansing, Michigan, on September 3, 1959, to John Michael Sr. and Lorraine Mary (Perry) Causley.
Don grew up in Hessel and Cedarville, Michigan, and after graduation, joined the United States Army before being medically discharged after serving. He returned to Hessel and started working in the family business with his Dad and brothers, Westside Painters, for over twenty years. He also made many friends working at Sault Plastics, Goodwill, and NTI Recycling.
Don - Chi Mukwa Ogitchiidaa - was a member of the Sault Tribe of Chippewa Indians and the Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church in Hessel.
Don loved staying active, playing softball, basketball, and golfing. He also enjoyed going hunting, playing his guitar, cribbage, drawing, and singing. He loved spending time with his family and was a very kindhearted, gentle, and caring Anishnaabe.
He spent the last years of his life ministering kindness towards those who life seemed to have forgotten - but true to his Big Bear Warrior heart, Don never forgot anyone.
Don is survived by his sisters, Dalinda Causley of St. Ignace, Michigan, and Debra Causley of Kinross, Michigan; brothers, John (Patricia) Causley of Hessel, Michigan, and Jeff (Connie) Causley of Kincheloe, Michigan; sisters in law, Phylis Causley of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, and Dorothy Causley of Kinross, Michigan; special friend, Mary Brown of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan; and dozens of beloved nieces and nephews.
Don is preceded in death by his parents, John Sr. and Lorraine; and brothers, Jim, Jerry, and Darryl Causley.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 7, 2023, starting at 11 AM at the Anaamianag Nopaming Tribal Community Center, where the fire is being tended and guests are welcome.

Final Resting Place will be at Old Mission Indian Cemetery - with his parents and brothers - on Thursday, May 11th, at 11am.
