Obituary For Diann Ruth Fox

Diann Ruth (Cadreau) Fox, age 81, of Trout Lake, Michigan, died on January 7, 2026, at MyMichigan Medical Center in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. She was born on September 28, 1944, in Saginaw, Michigan, to Joseph and Elaine (Siegwart) Cadreau.

Diann worked at Phil DeGraff’s Wegwas lodge in Trout Lake during the summer months, and for Phil at his lodge on Demere Key in Florida during the winter months for several years in her early twenties. After her time working for Phil, she returned to Trout Lake, where she met and married Elwood Fox of Hillman, Michigan. Diann devoted her life to raising her family and helping her husband in operating his logging and trucking business.

Diann was an avid NASCAR fan who especially loved Dale Earnhardt and enjoyed attending racetracks throughout Michigan. She enjoyed her green Chevy short box pickup and washing it daily. Diann loved coloring and playing games on her Kindle. Each year, she lovingly made memorial flowers for family gravesites. She was very creative and enjoyed making a wide variety of crafts, including decorative photo albums, flower arrangements, and coloring projects.

Diann is survived by her husband, Elwood; children, Stacey (Chris Hoornstra) Mills of Strongs, Michigan, Jada (Brad Novak) Fox of Engadine, Michigan, and Gina (Mike Johnson) Fox of Newberry, Michigan; step children, Marty Fox of Hillman, and Shannon Wright of Hubbard Lake, Michigan; grandchildren, Greg (Sue Krupski) Mills, Heather (Michael Kozloski) Mills, Tyler (Brittany) Fox, Bryant (Alyssa Anderson) Fox, Kris (Aimee Baier) Thompson, Trey and Trenton Ledford; step grandchildren, Matthew Wright, and Nicole (Jordan) Sleeter; great-grandchildren, Gregory and Bradley Mills, Damian Fox, Brody Maxson, Jaydin, Zayne, Jaxyn and Oakleigh Fox; and sister-in-law, Bridget Cadreau of Hessel, Michigan.

Diann was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Elaine; sister, Gayle Beaudoin; brother, Joe Cadreau; brother-in-law, Joe Beaudoin; nephews, Quinton Cadreau and Jesse Beaudoin; and niece, Nina (Tootie) Cadreau.

Visitation will be held on Monday, January 12, 2026, at Family Life Funeral Homes, 4951 S. M-129, Sault Ste. Marie, MI 49783, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. The Funeral Service will follow at 1:00 PM. Luncheon to follow at the Trout Lake Township Hall at 3 PM.

Interment will be at Trout Lake Lakeview Cemetery in the spring.
