Obituary For Delmar Zell Davis

Delmar Zell Davis, age 88, of Rudyard, Michigan, died on December 5, 2025, at Hospice House of the EUP. He was born on May 24, 1937, in Paradise, Michigan, to Zell L. and Lula May (Smith) Davis.

Delmar grew up in both Paradise and Rudyard, attending school in Paradise. He was lovingly raised by his parents before moving in with his brother Jude in Paradise and later living with sister Joyce in Rudyard, finally having his nephew Rod Stevens move in with him and take care of him with help from many other nieces and nephews.

Delmar was known for his joyful spirit, he was always happy and always ready with a warm welcome. He loved going on walks, watching television, and spending time with his nieces and nephews, who brought him great joy. He was often the first person to greet visitors at the door with a big smile. Some of his favorite shows included The Beverly Hillbillies, Gunsmoke, and all Christmas movies. Delmar also enjoyed car rides to go and see the trains and especially when trips ended up going to McDonald’s. He would faithfully love to enjoy a root beer and a Three Musketeers bar.

Delmar is survived by his best friends and niece and nephew, Betty Davis, and Arvie Stevens. He is also survived by many other nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews; and his special great-great nephew, Wyatt Ball.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Zell and Lula; siblings, Zella Elliott, Alva (Pauline) Davis, Jude “Raymond” (Elaine) Davis, Joyce Castle, and Carol (Elton) Dunbar; as well as his aunts and uncles.

A Memorial Service will be held in the spring of 2026 at the Baptist Church in Paradise, with interment to follow.

Memorial contributions can be made in Delmar’s honor to Ball Hospice House, 308 W. 12th Ave. Sault Ste. Marie, MI 49783.
