Obituaries

Daniel “Danny” Patrick O’Connor of Kincheloe, Michigan, died unexpectedly on July 11, 2023, at McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey, Michigan, at the age of 68. He was born in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, on May 10, 1955, to parents Kenneth and Mary (Noreen) O’Connor.

Danny graduated with the Pickford class of 1973 and had enjoyed playing high school baseball and football. Upon graduation he started working at O'Connor's Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram where he worked in various departments throughout his life. He later became a part owner alongside his brothers in 1991. Dan remained active with the dealership until his retirement in 2016. He went on to purchase a restaurant that him and his son, Josh ran together.

Danny’s favorite thing to do was watch his grandson, Logan, grow and play hockey. He loved the Detroit Tigers, Detroit Red Wings, and the Green Bay Packers. He was a family man through and through and spent as much time as he could with them. He will be greatly missed by many.

Danny is survived by son, Josh O’Connor of Kincheloe; mother, Mary O’Connor of Pickford, Michigan; grandchildren: Logan O’Connor, Jayden O’Connor, Mia O’Connor, and Jackson O’Connor; siblings, William O’Connor of Pickford, Richard O’Connor of Pickford, Thomas (Mary) O’Connor of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Tim O’Connor of Rogers, Arkansas, and Barry (Mary) O’Connor of Pickford; nieces & nephews, Chelsey & Brian Miotke of Pickford, Kenny & Jerlyn O'Connor of Oklahoma City, Tommy O'Connor of Oklahoma City, Zach O'Connor Rogers, Arkansas, Chance O'Connor Rogers, Arkansas, Hailee O'Connor of Sault Ste. Marie, Owen O'Connor of Sault Ste. Marie, and Ryan O'Connor of Sault Ste. Marie; along with many beloved cousins and friends.

Danny was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth; son, Marc O’Connor, and brother, Kenny O’Connor.

A Memorial Gathering will be held Saturday, July 15th, at Galer Funeral Homes in Pickford, from 9AM to 11AM with the Memorial Service starting at 11AM.

Following the 11AM Service, Danny will be taken to his Final Resting Place at Oaklawn Chapel Gardens in Sault Ste. Marie.

Memorial Contributions can be made out to the Pickford Sports Boosters. Funds received in the Danny O’Connor Memorial will go towards the purchase of a new scoreboard at the Ken O’Connor Memorial Field (baseball field) at Pickford High School.
