Obituary For Coe William Callentine, Sr

Coe William Callentine Sr., of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, died on May 29, 2023, at MyMichigan Medical Center—Sault, at the age of 88. He was born in Newcomerstown, Ohio, on November 20, 1934, to the late George & Ruth (Carr) Callentine.

Coe spent his youth in the small-town Newcomerstown where he attended school. Following graduation in 1954, he enlisted with the United States Air Force Base. He was stationed at many Air Force Bases across the United States and served in the Vietnam War. During his time at the Kincheloe Air Force Base, he met Barbara Jean (Cottle) Callentine during a dance in Hessel, Michigan. The couple married in July of 1954 and began their family.
Coe retired from the United States Air Force after twenty years of dedication. He began working as a Civil Servant for the United States Government and was stationed for a time at Mountain Home AFB and then Malmstrom AFB in Montana before returning to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan to enjoy retirement. He enjoyed golfing, traveling across the United States with Barbara, and spending time with his family.

Coe was a member of the Air Force Sergeants Association and Elks Lodge.

Coe is survived by his three sons, Dennis Callentine of Panama City, Florida, Coe Callentine Jr. of Mt. Home, Idaho, and Carl Callentine, also of Mt. Home; six grandchildren; and his six great-grandchildren.

Coe is preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Barbara Callentine; his brothers & sisters, and parents.

A burial will take place at Cottle Cemetery in Pickford, Michigan. Dates & times are to be announced.
