Obituary For Charles Henry Lamoreaux
Charles Henry Lamoreaux, age 92, of Davison, Michigan, died on June 1, 2025, in St. Ignace, Michigan. He was born on September 18, 1932, in St. Ignace, to George and Mary (Murphy) Lamoreaux.
Chuck grew up in Hessel, Michigan, and graduated from Cedarville High School with the Class of 1951. Soon after, he proudly served in the United States Navy for four years. Following his military service, Charles and his wife Margaret were joined in marriage on June 26, 1954, in Rudyard, Michigan, and settled in Flint, Michigan, where he briefly worked for Fisher Body Automotive. Being a diehard UP outdoorsman, Chuck could not handle factory life and went to work installing aluminum doors and windows for Bernie Johnson at Genesee Window. In the mid 60’s, Chuck began working at Buick Plant #36 where he completed a skilled trades training program and went on to serve as an electrician for 30 years.
Chuck was a member of the United Auto Workers Local #599.
During this time, he also continued working part time installing windows for Antcliff Windows and Doors.
Chuck’s true passion was deer, bird, etc. hunting in the UP and made multiple trips over the years to Wyoming for elk and mule deer. He was a phenomenal carpenter and finished his daughter’s lower level and custom craft room. His other passions included gardening, watching Fox News, or horse pulls at any Michigan Fair. Chuck enjoyed watching all kinds of sports, and rodeos especially bull riding.
Chuck is survived by his daughter, Diana (Kenneth) Vavra of Grand Blanc, Michigan; sons, Charlie (Kay) Lamoreaux of Alanson, Michigan, and Larry (Cherry) Lamoreaux of Georgia; grandchildren, Kellie (Kurt) Kippes, Kari (Kyle) Janes, Christopher (Liz) Lamoreaux, and Ashley (Nate) Bauer; and great-grandchildren, Jason, Owen, Kalyn, Olivia, Emmett, Kylah, Kaylee, and Kolton. He also leaves behind many cherished nieces and nephews.
Chuck was preceded in death by his beloved wife of nearly 68 years, Margaret Lamoreaux; siblings, Robert, Mary, Betty, Leland "Fuzzy”, Donald, Leona, Jimmy, and his infant twin, Ellen; and great-grandson, CJ Lamoreaux.
Charles will be remembered for his love of country, strong work ethic, and love of the UP.
A Visitation will be held Monday, June 9, 2025, from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 PM with a Funeral Service to follow at 2:00 PM at Family Life Funeral Homes - Pickford, 24549 S. M-129, Pickford, MI 49774.
Chuck’s final resting place will be at Cedar Cemetery in Cedarville, Michigan.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be left to Marc Johnson, Pres. Stalwart Fair, 370 W. M48 Pickford MI 48774 (please note in memory Chuck Lamoreaux) as he faithfully attended the horse pulls every year and where his father George competed for many years or Cedarville Area Schools Sports, P.O. Box 366 Cedarville, MI 49719, where Chuck was the quarterback for the very first Cedarville football team.
