Carol Ann (Lagarde) Walker, age 69, of Drummond Island, Michigan, died at the McLaren Hiland Cottage Hospice House in Petoskey, Michigan, on July 22, 2023. She was born in Detroit, Michigan, on October 13, 1953, to Thomas T. and Mary L. (Points) Lagarde.

Carol grew up in the Detroit area and attended elementary school at Christ the King Catholic Church, Murphy Jr. High School and she graduated from Redford High School. Carol met Steve Walker, and they were married on April 13, 1971, in Detroit. She moved with her husband to Drummond Island in 1991, where they owned and operated a small restaurant called the “Bear Track Inn” for twenty-six years.

Carol loved everything Drummond Island has to offer. She enjoyed the people, snowmobiling, jeeping, snowshoeing, hiking, boating, photography and her friends and family. She was very well traveled prior to moving to Drummond Island, having visited 48 of the 50 states, many Canadian Provinces, and parts of Europe, but Carol said she “loved living on Drummond most of all”.

Carol is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Steve; son, Nathan Walker; grandchildren Cassandra “Casey” Walker and Alexander “Alex” Walker; brother, Thomas Lagarde; and brothers-in-law, Alan Walker, and Kenneth Walker.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Mary Lagarde, and her sister-in-law Mary Walker.

Per Carol’s request, cremation has taken place and no services are being held at this time.
