Obituary For Candy Kay Willis
Candy Kay “Bi Nay She Kwe” “Cupcake” Willis, age 55, of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, died on October 25, 2026, at her home. She was born on April 13, 1971, in Flint, Michigan, to Anna Nieznay and Joseph Stimac.
Candy grew up in Flint and graduated from Atherton High School. She continued her education at Davenport University and Sanford-Brown Institute in Tampa, Florida, where she graduated as valedictorian. While pursuing her college education, Candy also raised her two children, while working third shift unloading semis, demonstrating the strength, determination and dedication that were such a big part of who she was. After moving to Sault Ste. Marie, Candy worked at War Memorial Hospital, where she became certified and helped establish the sleep study center. She was a strong-willed, active, and determined woman who dedicated herself to caring for others and had a deep passion for helping people.
Candy was a proud member of the American Legion Post 3 Auxiliary, American Legion Post 3 Riders, and American Legion Riders Hell to Paradise PTSD Awareness Ride.
In her free time, Candy enjoyed gardening and was a passionate rock hunter who always seemed to have a knack for finding special treasures. She was willing to participate in activities with her loved ones even when they weren't necessarily her favorite. If it meant spending time with family and friends, who meant so much to her, one of Candy’s favorite sayings was, “Family is the most important thing in this world.” Candy loved all things Harley Davidson, including going on rides. She turned this into her love and dedication, even in her hard times, to the ALR ride. Her caring spirit, determination, and willingness to put others first will be remembered by all who knew and loved her.
Candy is survived by her children, Amber Flowers and Trent (Brittini) Flowers both of Sault Ste. Marie; grandchildren, Chloe, Alexander, and Oliver; mother, Anna Nieznay; Ride or Die, Scott “Hawk” Igo; siblings, Barbara Willis, Matt Stimac, Mary Champagne and Crimson Rising; beloved uncle, Roger; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and her fur and feather babies.
Candy was preceded by her father, Joseph; sister, Mimi; brother, Billy; and aunt, Pat.
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 2, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM, at Family Life Funeral Homes, 4951 S. M-129, Sault Ste. Marie, MI 49783. There will be a remembrance dinner following at the American Legion, 3 Legion Dr., Sault Ste. Marie, MI 49783 beginning at 7:00 PM.
