Obituaries

Beverly Jean (Barteau)Vandergeest, age 81, of Cedarville, Michigan, died on July 7, 2023. She was born in Montague, Michigan, on January 19, 1942, to Roy and Crystal (Squires) Barteau and was the oldest of seven children.

Beverly attended Montague High School and graduated with the Class of 1960. After graduation, she went to work for the General Telephone Company where she met the love of her life, Martin Junior. They married on November 25, 1961, and moved to Cedarville, where they raised their family and built their lives.

Beverly was named Miss White Lake in 1960, she was a member of the First Union Church in Cedarville and was also a member of a choral group called Island Harmony.

She loved singing, traveling, fishing, hunting, playing golf and entertaining friends.

Beverly is survived by her husband, Martin Junior Vandergeest; son, Eugene Franklin Vandergeest; daughter, Brenda Lynn (Vandergeest) Brown; grandchildren, Megan (Izzard) Bertram, Rayna Vandergeest, Angela (Ware) Hascall, and Jonathon Ware; great-grandchildren, Blake Hascall, Peyton Bertram, Piper Hascall, and Evie Bertram; Sisters, Pat LaFever, Elsie Barteau Heath, Bobbie Barteau Strong; and brother, Roger Barteau.

Beverly was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Bill and Ed Barteau; and granddaughter, Danielle Ware.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2023, at 12:00 P.M. with a luncheon to follow at the First Union Church, 159 E Hodeck St., Cedarville, MI 49719.

The final resting place will be at Cedar Cemetery in Mackinac Twp., Michigan.
