Benjamin Russell Bumstead, age 40, of Sault Ste. Marie, MI passed away on Monday, July 10, 2023, at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan.

Ben was born on June 25, 1983, in Sault Ste. Marie, MI to Russell and Diana (Hietikko) Bumstead. He married Desiree' Lillian Thompson on July 10, 2004, at the Soo Locks Park. Ben worked as a Plant Manager for AMI. He was a member of the Elks Lodge #552, and enjoyed playing in sports leagues: golf, softball, pool, and cornhole. Ben had many hobbies, including hunting, ice fishing, camping, golfing, playing pool, and playing cornhole. He was also very handy - a “jack-of-all-trades”. Ben especially enjoyed spending time with his three children and his wife.

Ben is survived by his wife of 19 years: Desiree'; his three children: Kylee Sue, Robert Laurance, and Russell James Bumstead all of Sault Ste. Marie, MI. He is also survived by his mother, Diana (Joe Arndt) Bumstead of Theresa, WI; his in-laws: Tim and Marg Thompson of Sault Ste. Marie, MI; his brother: Rich (Leigh Ann) Bumstead of Theresa, WI; his brother Tony (Jodi) Carey of Kinross, MI; and his brother-in-law: Tim Thompson Jr. of Sault Ste. Marie, MI. Ben is also survived by his grandfather: James Bumstead; and his grandmother-in-law: Lois Thompson; both of Sault Ste. Marie, MI. Also surviving Ben is his Aunt Gail (Roger) Graham; his cousin: Bobby Ballard; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Ben was preceded in death by his father, Russell Bumstead; his grandmother and grandfather, Sheila and Lauri Hietikko; his grandmother, Evelyn Bumstead; and his niece London Carey.

A visitation will be held from 1:00 until 3:00 PM on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at C.S. Mulder Funeral Home followed by a prayer. Burial will be at Oaklawn Chapel Gardens, followed by a celebration of life at the Elks Lodge in Sault Ste Marie, MI.
