Obituary For Alice Diane Bare

Alice Diane Bare, age 85, peacefully went to Heaven on June 7, 2025, at Evergreen Living Center in St.
Ignace, Michigan. Alice was born on June 26, 1939, in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, and was loved by so
many. After experiencing the heart-breaking loss of her husband James early on in motherhood, Alice
devoted her life to being the most amazing, selfless, and hard-working single mother to her four children.
She spent many years caring for the community as a nurse’s aide and helping those in need.

Alice, affectionally called “Nana” by her biological and “adopted” grandchildren, was known for her
generous heart, infectious laughter, and radiant smile. Nothing made her happier than spending time with
her family, especially playing the family dice game Zilch, watching (or should we say betting) on sports
games, and passing down stories. Alice was the “Queen” of Christmas who always made the holidays so special and fun. She truly was the Matriarch of the family who held everyone together during the hardest
times. Her ability to always find the good in the world and see the bright side in any situation made her
the go-to confidant for anybody who needed a listening ear. Above all, Alice was rooted in her faith in God and a deeply held belief that gratitude is the most powerful antidote to life’s most challenging times.

Her family will carry on the important lessons in life and love that she taught so wholeheartedly.

Alice is survived by her two daughters and son-in-law, Cathy Jo and Dean Amundson, of Arizona and
Carey Jane Synett, of Brimley, Michigan; grandchildren, Samantha Jane Synett of Texas, Alexander (Jude) Stout ofArizona, Megan Jo (Shayne) West of North Dakota and Rachelle Ashley Vercera; great- grandchildren, Arthur Stout, Christopher Lee and Jaxon Lane West of North Dakota; sisters, Lona Taylor of Oregon, Kim (Jim) Shea, Pamela (Larry) Leask; brother, Tony (Connie) Stewart; and many other
beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Alice was preceded in death by her husband, James C. Bare; daughter, Kimberly Stout; son, Christopher
Bare; mother, Helen Kurkierewicz and father, Benjamin Kelly; son-in-law, Jacob “Joe” Synett;
granddaughter, Katie Jane Bare; grandson, James D. Patrick “Jimmy” Synett; sisters, Terry Hernandez
and Paula Kaplan; and brothers, William “Bill” Stewart, Clifford “Ricky” Stewart, and David Stewart.

A Celebration of Alice’s life will be held at a later date. For details, please contact the family.
