Detectives from the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office and Sault Ste Marie PD were working separate complaints involving injured young children. The complaints involved several children, who were at one point ,under the care of Mr. Guilmette and all ended up with various degrees of injury.
On 10-7-2020 Mr. Guilmette was arrested on the following child abuse charges and an unrelated FTA warrant.
ARRESTED: Robert Joseph Guilmette, 28 year old Sault resident
1- Child Abuse 1st Degree – Felony
2- Child Abuse 1st Degree – Felony
3- Child Abuse 1st Degree – Felony
4- Child Abuse 3rd Degree – Felony
5- Child Abuse 4th Degree – Misdemeanor
6- Child Abuse 4th Degree – Misdemeanor
On 10-8-2020 Mr. Guilmette was arraigned in 91st District Court and given a $200,000 Cash bond with conditions. Mr. Guilmette is innocent until proven guilty.
