Chippewa County reporting twelve confirmed cases of COVID-19

CHIPPEWA County, Michigan – As of 10:00 a.m. on July 6, 2020, Chippewa County Health Department (CCHD) is reporting a total 12 confirmed cases of COVID-19, plus one probable case (“probable case” means a symptomatic individual who has not been tested, but has had direct exposure to a confirmed positive individual).

Since the recent increase in cases is not due to one outbreak, the health department is reminding the public that COVID-19 is present within our community. It is possible for a person to show no signs of illness and yet be positive for COVID-19. Therefore, we strongly urge the public to practice social distancing (minimum of six feet), limit sustained contact (less than 15 minutes), disinfect commonly touched surfaces, and wear face coverings when in public. It also important to be respectful of local businesses and follow the guidelines they have established. The guidelines are in place to protect you and their staff. It is imperative that residents take responsibility to protect themselves and their loved ones.
